My application, with Krypton

Postby vesuvius » Mon Aug 03, 2009 4:15 am

This is my company web site http://castaliasolutions.com/default.aspx, and includes an application I wrote called Chronica http://castaliasolutions.com/chronica.aspx

Deep zoom version available here http://castaliasolutions.com/chronicadeepzoom.aspx

I really love what Krypton can and does achieve, what do you think?

Very professional looking application. I like the deep zoom technique as well for looking at the the images.

Very impressive vesuvius. How much "tweaking" did you have to perform to get CF to do what you want? The app I've been focused on for the last year is almost complete (I hope to post screenshots soon) and I found that the CF controls did what I want with very little manipulation.

I did notice on the calendar panel that they don't seem to fit right. Where you not able to dock them into the navigator so they scaled properly?

A few of the screenshots were "work in progress" and the calendar was one of them (images taken with the calendar beta I think)

In general I enjoyed the project (which has brought about my present job) and using Krypton and it's almost 100% http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decorator_pattern has taught me so much. I love the new docking, and the crispness that that has. Office 2010 looks like a service release of Office 2007 so there will still be great demand for CF and I will keep championing it.

Hi vesuvius,

Really nice looking application.
Just one question: what have you used to display reports? ReportViewer?
Because the only problem I have now is to display reports like invoices and they don't work with custom objects :( You have to bind them to a binding list.

I use SQL Sever 2008 reporting. I have a post in my blog here explaining my data access choice http://ira.me.uk/2008/12/29/choosing-the-correct-database-access-technology-for-your-application/

I know that this is of little help for you, but it's why I decided against CLSA.NET and other things becuase most third party components only work with a dataset. It may well be that for your reporting solution you use datasets as they are made for the report viewer, and it may take a while before you learn reporting services which is really big and complex at times.

hi,
I created a project with a krypton and an MDI child form. the child form is characterized by many gruopbox, text boxes and buttons.
When I open the child form takes a long time to apply the settings kryptonpalette customized. so I see all the stages of change of form. I would like to know if there is a way to avoid this.
thanks
MCk
