I like the darker color because it matches the title bar, and because that is the office 2007 theme.

I hope Phil agrees with me

If you like the colour, use a colour matching program like Photoshop, then use the palette designer in Krypton Explorer to create the exact palette you like. If Phil agreed with you, he would have had the status bar that color in the first place.

Do you really think Phil made a color error when designing the Krypton Palette?

Krypton is based on Office 2007 and is not an exact replica, nor does it purport, or intend to be. People like Chris Porter for example use other component suites like Component One, but choose Krypton because they think it looks sexier. I do too :D

"Do you really think Phil made a color error when designing the Krypton Palette? " - Yes I do in the case of the status bar, only Phil really knows the answer to this question.

Krypton looks better, but that's not just because of the colours, it renders sharper, is more refined etc.

Slightly off topic but if you need a powerful color picker, try this one: http://www.nattyware.com/pixie.php. I've used it for years and I love it.

Nice tip Chris.
I remember all the times i had to open Photoshop, create a new image, paste from clipboard just to be able to use the color picker.
Thanks

Continuing the tangent (sorry!)...if you're looking for a web colour picker or eyedropper tool there's also the ColorZilla add-on for Firefox. I use it all the time and quite like it.

Pixie looks cool tool though, since I can use it outside my browser.

The color of the status bar is deliberately the color it is. It is also the same color as the Office 2007 color schemes. Your example picture shows a comparison of the Silver scheme in Krypton with the Black scheme in Office 2007 and so obviously has a different color.

Shows you your example with the status bar at the bottom, as you can see its grey, not black, the office status bar is black.

Id like to see a black status bar, please :)

I use the statusbar on a Krypton form.

If I select a Office 2007 Black it turns the Statusbar to a black color.

On my Statusbar-RenderMode-ManagerRenderMode is setup to use my KryptonManager.

Hope this might be some help to you.

Love the controls, every color scheme I use, changes the statusbar to that theme.

Looking at the code I can see the issue here. I can only provide one color for both the active and inactive state of the Form. So you can either have light gray all the time (as happens at the moment) or dark gray/black all the time. If you want to switch to black then you could do the following. Create a KryptonPalette and set the following two values...

kryptonPalette1.ToolMenuStatus.StatusStrip.StatusStripGradientBegin = Color.FromArgb(74,74,74)
kryptonPalette1.ToolMenuStatus.StatusStrip.StatusStripGradientBegin = Color.FromArgb(42,43,43)

Set the palette to either the global palette or the form palette property. You might need to modify the colors slightly to get exactly what you want.

Thanks Phil,
I am happy to wait for 3.5 if this will be fixed, otherwise I will implement your custom palette idea, please let me know.

There is no fix for this so you will need to use a custom palette.

open Krypton Explorer, go to the Applications tab and on the right select Palette Designer. from there you can create custom colours using the built in palettes.
