Krypton Ribbon Form looks like classic view?

Postby ddivita » Thu Apr 10, 2008 9:02 pm

Here is a picture of what my forms look like: (This is the Outlook example from the Kyrpton explorer)

Here is what I would like to see: (This is an image form Word 2007)

I just bought the library yesterday and cannot figure this out. Looking at the examples on the screencasts (for the ribbon component), they look like what I want.

Thank you all,

Daniel

Try looking at the properties of the Form and setting the AllowFormChrome to True.

I have tried that..No go...

I ran the Outlook exmaple from the Krypton explorer. I did not build it from VS 2008.

Unfortunately I do not have XP installed. If you start a new Visual Studio project and add a new KryptonRibbonForm then F5 or build does the problem still appear then? What happens if you change the allowformchrome property. It may be that there is a problem with the installation of the krypton explorer.

I would like to know if the problem appears if you create a new ribbon form on your own and whether changing the allowformchrome property changes things. Good luck!

Yep, tried that too. Set the AllowChrome.. property to true and false.

Not sure what is going on.

No, the FormChrome will not work if you don' t have Windows-Themes enabled (like Luna on XP oder Aero in Vista (or any 3rd party themes)).
Meaning the Form will not draw the chrome border if you run windows in classic theme.

Well, I uninstalled and reinstalled the components. Still doesn't look correct. I added the Ribbon Form to the project. Here is what is looks like in VS2008 under XP:

Did you even read my post?

If you have WinXP with theming enabled your windows will look like this:

If you have Vista your windows will probably look like this:

In this case, the form will draw its custom chrome border just as you want it to.

Krypton won't skin the titlebar if your windows looks like this:

In this case you've got a version of windows which is older than WinXP or you disabled the theming in windows.

Your post was not there when I replied, last. Sorry.

I changed to the XP theme and it looked correct, but I guess I am confused as to why the theme matters. I have seen / tired other form components and never had to change my theme. They looked like my MS word 2007 example, above (while in the classic theme). The MS word example, above, was drawn under the classic theme.

By the way, I could not see your Vista example.

Thanks

Daniel

I am afriad the KryptonForm is not capable of drawing custom chrome in the classic setting because of issues to do with getting it to work in a reliable and consistent manner. Sorry.

Actually, if the user has Themes disabled, he probably doesn't want Themes anyway. In my opinion, Krypton behaves right, even if it's just because it can't do otherwise.

I second that. The only problem is people really do have the oddest expectations and or requests.

It's because they are dealing with Kryptonite!
