update 4.4.0 from 4.3.2

Postby rthon » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:13 pm

I just updated my controls to version 4.4.0 from 4.3.2 and when I open a prior solution containing controls from 4.3.2 I receive an error that the controls do not exist and need to be corrected in order to run the solution correctly. I'm using VS 2010 pro. I followed the directions to unisntall 4.3.2 and then install 4.4.0. This worked correctly. I also rebooted the pc to make sure that everything was fresh and in place. Any procedure to help me correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think I may have corrected the problem with my system.
background - Windows 7 Pro, i7 (laptop), 8GB
1st - I had VS2008 and VS2010 loaded on the same machine.
Here's what i did:
1 - uninstalled VS2008
2 - reboot
3 - uninstalled Krypton 4.4.0
4 - reboot
5 - installed Krypton 4.4.0
6 - reboot
7 - now Krypton 4.4.0 is in my components tool list on VS2010
NEXT, resolving the issue with the solution file previously using version 4.3.2:
1 - start VS2010
2 - load solution
3 - go to Solution Explorer, References, ComponentFactory.Krypton.xxxxxxx (referenced control) - right click and select properties
4 - on Properties.... highlight version, go to Properties, then 'Specific Version' attribute and change it from TRUE to FALSE
(repeat for each control referenced in the solution explorer)

All the reference errors went away and it compiled correctly.
That's what it took to get me back up and running.
I hope this helps others, if they have the same problem.

those steps are unnecessary.

i went through this when i updated to 4.3.2. easy fix:

load solution, make sure all forms/usercontrols are closed.

in your solution browser expand references
remove references to krypton libraries for 4.3.2
re-add the references to krypton by browsing to the new version dll files.

worked for me. no need to uninstall anything except krypton 4.3.2 before installing 4.4
