Transparent Background

Postby aca02djr » Wed Nov 21, 2007 6:23 am

Great work with the Navigator!

I have a question though, is there a way to make the panels in the navigator transparent so that the Form background shows through? I've tried setting the colours to transparent in the StateCommon/Panel and Page properties, but it's always white.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure why you would want to do that. If you want a TabStrip style usage then you can achieve that by using one of the appropriate modes on the Navigator. I don't think you will be able to get it transparent. The Navigator control itself has a child control that is used to contain the actual pages. So you would need to get the Navigator and the child panel to both be transparent.

Hi,

I'd also like to have the navigator tab pages be transparent so the panel that it resides on comes through as the background.

I tried changing the mode to "Bar - Tab - Only" but then I can't drag controls onto the Navigator - got an exception.

How do you use the Navigator in this mode? Or more to the point how can I achieve what i want using the Navigator?

Thanks,
Mike

It sounds like you need to use the navigator in a tab strip type mode so you can use it to select which page (or option) you require. Then below that you would place a KryptonGroup that contains the actualy controls you want to show. You can then drag and drop onto the KryptonGroup just like a regular panel control.

Thanks Phil. Do you mean that I need to use a separate kryptongroup control for each of the tab pages I want to make?
And then just hide and show the different Kryptongroup controls programmatically when the tab headers are clicked?

If so, my concern is the space that all of the kryptongroups take up in design mode.
If it's my only option then no problem but I want to make sure I'm not doing it the hard
way if there is a better, more elegant way to do this.

Again... I just want my background to show through the krypton navigator.

Thanks again!

I just had a play with the Navigator and you cannot get it to show the background in a transparent way so that the owning Form/Panel etc shows through.

Hi

To configure the KryptonNavigator so that the KryptonPages are transparent and the form background is visible behind the KryptonNavigator follow the steps below:

KryptonNavigator settings:

1. Add KryptonNavigator to form
2. Select KryptonNavigator and go to Properties toolbox
3. Set Group -> GroupBackStyle and GroupBorderStyle to Separator - Low Profile
4. Set PageBackStyle to Separator - Low Profile
5. Set StateCommon -> Page -> Color1 to Transparaent
6. If you want the Panel behind the tabs to also be transparent then, Set StateCommon -> Panel -> Color1 to Transparaent

For each KryptonPage:

1. Set StateCommon -> Page -> Color1 to Transparaent

Hope that helps.

Regards

Matt
